What is attendant care?
This is hands-on assistance, observation, reminding or guiding a person with activities of daily living such as grooming, bathing, toileting, mobility, dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, to MD appointments, Medication reminders, Laundry, Shopping, Companionship, and Community involvement. The center shall identify the needs and hire attendant care aides to perform these tasks in the participant's homes. This allows primary caregivers to work outside of their homes knowing that their loved ones are receiving care at home as opposed to institutionalization.
- Attendant care can help assist with the following tasks:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Toileting
- Transferring
- Maintaining continence
- Personal hygiene
- Light housework
- Laundry
- Meal planning and preparation
- Transportation
- Shopping
- Community involvement
- Money management
- Assistance with medication administration as it relates to personal care needs
